Jazz in de zomer, een selectie van de allerbeste jazzplaten! Atomic Basie, voor velen de meest explosieve Big Band-plaat. Via de arrangementen van Neal Hefti slaat de muziek van de Basie band in als een bom, in de meer ingetogen passages valt Count Basie's subtiele pianospel op. De solisten van dienst zijn niet de minste: Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Thad Jones & Joe Newman. Daarnaast ook aandacht voor Count Basie in de jaren dertig en veertig.
